The Dixieland Collection is a laser- focused Trad Jazz ensemble of instruments designed to tap into the iconic sound of Jazz Giants like ‘Louis Armstrong and his Hot 7’ or 'King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band' from the very birth of Jazz itself in the early 1900s - with every articulation performed to encapsulate everything from a strong live-performed ‘Satchmo’ style vibrato across all brass instruments, to idiomatic and highly nuanced inflections and performance techniques across the entire range. Including; Cornet, Clarinet, Trombone, Banjo (with live tempo sync’d strumming), Piano, Upright Bass and a Jazz Drum Kit (including iconic percussive elements).

The most complete and specific collection of Kontakt Based Virtual Instruments to tackle the Dixieland genre, laser-focused for ultra-specific realism to create the iconic sound of the early pioneers of Jazz.

Important Note: The DIXIELAND COLLECTION requires the FULL version of Kontakt 5/6/7/8 or above. Do not purchase this if you only have Kontakt Player.

My thoughts on DIXIELAND COLLECTION

Hello!

Four stars rather than five - there are some samples that would really help complete this collection, which for me would put it in the "5 Star" category.

Not sure if you're open to suggestions regarding future updates to Dixieland Connection, but here are my thoughts....

DRUM SET:
Add snare rolls - straight rolls (with no initial hit)
sfz snare hit followed by a crescending roll; ditto a crescending/decrescending roll
March cadences a la Salvation Army Band, triggered by a single MIDI note

TROMBONE:
Add a glissando up a fourth interval, i.e. G up to C, B up to E, etc.
Add a glissando down a fourth interval, i.e. A down to E, D down to A, etc.
Add characteristic glissandi (up-down: C-G-C etc., down-up A-E-A etc.)
[ABOVE TRIGGERED BY SINGLE MIDI NOTE]
Use key velocity to make the glissandi short or long (as you have in the Upright Bass glissandos)
Add velocity sensitivity to the "Falls" articulation to allow for fast or slow falls (again, like you have in the Upright Bass glissandos)

ADD euphonium and/or tuba
when played in unison with Upright Bass, you have a really fat low end. Many of the shows I've played over the years utilize that arrangement trick - such a thick sound!

Lastly, let me commend you on the GUI for this Virtual Instrument library. The purple background is unique, reminiscent of the vibrant colors of New Orleans. Though I am just now slowly exploring, the interface is very user-friendly and intuitive. I will be using this library very soon for a video scoring project.

Bravo on your fine work!

Awesome stuff

Havent had much time with it but i Love the sound right off the bat and this will be useful in my current productions for the Circus! The only reason i didnt give it 5 stars is that nothing is perfect!
