An expressive solo violin for musical, performance-led writing.
The Violin One is an expressive, performance-focused solo violin for Kontakt, building on the design approach established with Cello One. It was designed around musical playability, using our Overlay Threshold approach to shape dynamics and articulation transitions in real time.
The instrument centres on a focused set of core articulations chosen for expressive writing, prioritising playability and musical response — including lyrical sustained tones, agile short bow articulations, and performance trills. Each articulation is recorded and programmed to respond naturally to dynamics, allowing phrasing and movement to emerge from playing rather than sequencing.
Violin One expands the Expressive Solo series alongside Cello One and Viola One. While designed to work together as a cohesive set, the instrument is intended to stand on its own as a focused solo voice across a range of musical contexts.
