The Viola One is an expressive, performance-focused solo viola for Kontakt. It was designed around musical playability, using our Overlay Threshold approach to shape dynamics and articulation transitions in real time.
The instrument centres on a focused set of core articulations chosen for expressive writing, prioritising playability and musical response — including lyrical sustained tones, characterful ricochet bowing, and performance trills. Each articulation is recorded and programmed to respond naturally to dynamics, allowing phrasing and movement to emerge from playing rather than sequencing.
Viola One follows on from Cello One and Violin One, completing the Expressive Solo series. While designed to work together as a cohesive set, each instrument is intended to stand on its own as a focused solo voice across a range of musical contexts.
